When we talk about the North of France, we think of the sea, wide natural spaces, sandy beaches, seagulls and fish, nature reserve, holidays... But the "Côte d'Opale" has much more to offer than that...
The Coast is like the Hauts de France region. It is a super friendly place where gastronomy warms the hearts and allows easy exchanges with the locals. There is nothing better than a dish of mussels with chips and a good beer to spend a convivial stay.
There are so many things to do in the north of France that a single article would not be enough. There are the pretty little cabins typical of seaside resorts, walks in the dunes or through the 2 Caps site (Cap blanc nez & gris nez). During your walks the colour of the sky will change a thousand time, the horizon will never be the same and you will leave with a ton of souvenir photos.

To name a few of them we have the kite festival in Berck sur Mer, the enduropale in Le Touquet, the carnival in Dunkerque, the sea festival in Boulogne sur Mer...many events that make life in our region even more enjoyable!
Each season has its own charm and it's great to stay in the north of France from January to December: the magic of the Côte d'Opale takes place even in winter! You will be able to watch the kitesurfers having fun in the waves, take a breath of fresh air, see the children running on the beach with their rubber boots...
What's great about the Côte d'Opale is that you can enjoy the sea, the beach, the towns and the countryside at the same time. And this is surely what makes it the ideal destination for a family holiday.

Weather in Northern France
Weather in Northern France
Coastal cities have an oceanic climate. It means that thermal amplitudes are low, winters are mild and summers rather cool, except during heat waves. Frost & snow days are quite rare so you don't need to bring your pair of skis even in the winter !
There are some prevailing winds from the south & west which bring relatively clean air and push the clouds towards the coast. If you move a little further away from the coast, the weather will certainly change, the climate becomes more continental: there is less wind and it is therefore a little warmer.
If you you to know more, don't hesitate to look at the Météo France website to get the latest information on the weather in the north of France.
